Photo of the week #1

#1 -- Maniok

Ich liebe Fotos! Sie sagen manchmal so viel mehr, als Tausend Worte. Und seit der digitalen Fotografie knipst jeder um die Wette. Manchmal schmunzle ich, wenn ich daran denke, wie ich früher bei jedem Foto zweimal überlegt habe, ob das Motiv vor mir ein Foto wert ist. Schließlich hatte man nur eine 25er oder 36er Filmrolle. Da wollte jeder Knipser überlegt sein. Und wenn dann die Filmrolle mal leer war, dann war's das mit dem Knipsen. Aber heute ist das ja alles schon "ewig" her - obwohl eigentlich nur etwa acht Jahre? - und Dank Smartphone & Co. kann man auch mal locker Hundert Bilder pro Tag schießen. Eigentlich schade, weil man sich manchmal nur hinter der Kamera versteckt. Eine volle Filmrolle wäre dann vielleicht doch ganz gut, um den Moment zu genießen und nicht alles durch die Kameralinse zu sehen.

Daher dachte ich an ein wöchentliches Format hier auf itchyfeet-ish. Genauer gesagt an ein Foto. Ein Foto der Woche. Und das soll gar nichts damit zu tun haben, was ich momentan mache oder wo ich gerade bin. Einfach ein Single Foto. Entweder mit oder ohne Story. 
Fotos gucken macht Spaß - und zum Wochenende passt so was doch immer, oder?


Info zum Foto #1:
- Frauen schälen und verkaufen Maniokknollen auf dem Markt in Ndikiniméki in Zentralkamerun - September 2013. Hauptsächlich wird die Wurzelknolle der Maniokpflanze verwendet. Die äußere, rötlich braune Schicht der Knolle wird wie bei Kartoffeln geschält. Innen ist die Nutzpflanze weiß bis gelb. Maniok ist vielfältig - die Küche variiert von Land zu Land in den vorkommenden Tropen und Subtropen.
In Kamerun gibt's zum Beispiel die Batôns de Manioc. Wie die zubereitet werden, seht ihr hier im Video.

This photo is taken in Ndikiniméki, central cameroon, on the weekly market. I took some photos of the women who were preparing and selling manioc. This plant has a great variety in preparation and it's almost every day on the table. In Cameroon there are the Batôns de Manioc - Do it yourself! - How? - You find a video here.
