There is so much to see and discover in Hamburg. And for all those travel addicted ones who need big city life, beach, water and underground music scene it's the place to be in Germany. What's with Berlin? - you probably ask. Don't worry. I love Berlin. I really do. We probably all do somehow. Unfortunately there are no beaches but nice spots at the spree where you may hang out. South germans aren't really welcome in every quarter - but Berlin works on it. And on the airport.

I love showing people around and give them a little sparkle of the spirit of Hamburg. The plan: I show you "my" Hamburg.

One of my absolutely favourite coffee places is

 - GRETCHENS VILLA - 

with - in my opinion- Hamburg's best white chocolate à la Gretchen. Definetely a must-see and must-drink when you visit Hamburg and the scenic "Karoviertel", near underground station Feldstraße (U3) or Messehallen (U2).
Drop in for a yummy cake, delicious daily lunch or breakfast after a night out. And feel yourself comfortable - the "Gretchens" welcome you as if you visit old friends in their home villa. Country style meets modern living, mint green wallpapers meet homemade cakes, pasta, salads, soups and other little yummy somethings.  If you sit down once, you will hardly wanna leave. Enjoy your drink, let the sun shine into your face and watch the passersby.

What's the story?
The name "Gretchens Villa" belongs to the second given name of the owner of the café, Margarete. She used to work in an office but she always wanted to work around food and delicious cakes. 2010 was her year - the year she opened "her" villa - The "Gretchens Villa".
